You won’t make it to tonight.” And immediately the 26-year-old small businessman from Vomero suffered the first blow. Then continuous beatings with a baseball bat alternating with pauses until the victim was hit with a stone, leaving him battered and bleeding, semi-conscious on a small balcony of the house.
A nightmare that began in the early afternoon of last September 28th and lasted about 12 hours, due to a debt of 365 thousand euros contracted by the young man with Marcello Madonna, his partner in the sale of used cars, engaged to his niece (who had nothing to do with it) of the ras “o’ nfamone”, now a fugitive precisely because of this investigation which has as many as 12 people under investigation in various capacities for complicity in kidnapping for the purpose of extortion and personal injury: the original boss of the Case Nuove, 54 year old lieutenant of the clan Contini; Ciro Carrino, 32 years old; Armando Reginella (Madonna’s father-in-law), 52 years old; Carlo Di Maio “’o nano”, 36 years old; Giovanni Giuliani, 25 years old; Marcello Madonna, 26 years old; Maria Rullo (Nicola’s sister and Madonna’s mother-in-law), 48 years old; Immacolata Reginella, 26 years old; Salvatore Pisco, 57 years old; Antonio Cappella; Assunta Giuliani; Gabriele Esposito.

Of them, 11 are in prison or under arrest at home (including the 3 women) and 2 are untraceable. The terrible story was clarified quickly, with the identification of the participants in the kidnapping and those who physically beat the victim, by the policemen of the “Organized Crime” section of the Flying Squad of the police headquarters (manager Giovanni Leuci, deputy commissioner Giuseppe Sasso) , coordinated by the anti-mafia prosecutor’s office.
The complaint from the father of the 26-year-old kidnapped after a trap date with Marcello Madonna allowed investigators with an immediate raid to find the location of the beating: an apartment in via Nuova del Campo in the possession of Assunta Giuliani, mother of Carlo Di Maio.
Both did not participate in the attack, which was carried out almost alone by Rullo according to the reconstruction of the investigators (without prejudice to the presumption of innocence for all until any final conviction). Only one other person, young according to the victim, would have lent a hand.

In the affair Carrino, Reginella and Cappello would have had the role of lookouts; Di Maio allegedly ordered his mother to clean the room; acted as a relay for the Panda in which the 26-year-old was traveling after the beating; Maria Rullo allegedly held him hostage in Castel Volturno before being transported to the “Fatebenefratelli” hospital.
