Kids out: the “generation z” who goes around armed

In vain we try to identify that period of time in which the drift began, in which everything changed, just as in vain we pursue hypotheses and reasoning to understand why everything changed. When, how and why the kids, even those we call children, between 12 and 15 years old, stopped having fun in groups, at most getting into fights but nothing more than that and decided to arm themselves with knives, brass knuckles, clubs baseball, even pistols. In Naples, three young lives shattered in the space of a few days, just for fun. Nowadays, there are kids around who are totally out of their minds, so far from reality that they kill their peers as if they were flies or mosquitoes. They have idols, some of whom – musically speaking – talk about weapons and shootings like they once talked about love, other examples to follow come from television series, with all due respect to those who continue to argue that it’s not true. In this apocalyptic picture, there is a great absentee and that is the State. At least, the school is trying, even if – as we learn from the columns of Il Mattino – there are many teachers who have decided to retire early because they feel all too strongly the generational gap that exists with the students, with the children of today, the men of tomorrow. In short, they surrender to the evidence. At least, the world of associations is trying, with round tables and conferences which are still drops in the sea. It was a problem, today it is an emergency. Which must be addressed seriously, with rigor, like a pandemic. As for some parents, they give up their cell phones for a bit, with the selfies and stories to publish to dedicate some time to their children.
