La Kermesse donates ,000 to three organizations

The profits from the Jeanick Fournier show presented in October in Baie-Saint-Paul allowed the Fair to donate $27,000 to three organizations: the Sakura Judo Club, the Center du Cheval Enchanteur for the Équi-T-Action program and the Saint-Urbain Youth Center.

“It’s wonderful!” It’s very moving,” exclaimed François Lavoie, board member of the Center du Cheval Enchanteur, when the check for $9,000 for the organization was revealed.

This amount, the same for each of the three organizations, is “significant” for Nancy Girard, of the Sakura Judo Club of Baie-Saint-Paul. Its use has not yet been decided, but could be used for judo camps, parties or to allow people with limited means to practice their sport.

For the Enchanting Horse Center, this donation will make it possible to create two groups to welcome more young people in difficulty. “We intervene preventively before young people get too badly. The relationship with the horse, learning to control it, plays on self-confidence, it gives them back power,” explains Lucie Rhéaume, co-owner of the equestrian center.

Françoise Lavoie, André Rochefort and Lucie Rhéaume were very touched by the gesture of the Fair.

“It’s great, we feel privileged,” finally rejoices Marie-Pierre Bouchard-Girard, director of the Saint-Urbain Youth Center. The money received will support the general mission of this MDJ which has no recurring funding, even if it welcomes around twenty young people per evening several times a week.

The Fair team donated $9,000 to the MDJ of Saint-Urbain. In front: Marie-Pierre Bouchard-Girard, young people from Saint-Urbain and Élody Asselin, coordinator-educator.
