La Pampa sends a delegation of 141 athletes to the Araucanía Binational Games
The province of La Pampa will be represented by 141 athletes in the XXXI edition of the Araucanía Binational Games, which will be held in the Aysén Region, Chile, between the 10th and 15th of this month. The delegation, also made up of coaches, assistants, delegates and authorities, leaves this Friday towards the competition venues in Puerto Aysén, Coyhaique and Punta Arenas.
Pampean athletes ready to compete in Chile
Ceferino Almudévar, Undersecretary of Sports of the Ministry of Social Development of La Pampa, will lead the delegation. The group will travel in four buses and one van to reach the designated venues. Basketball and swimming competitions will be held in Puerto Aysén; Athletics, judo and volleyball events will take place in Coyhaique; and in Punta Arenas, in the Magallanes region, soccer and cycling tournaments will be held, all in women’s and men’s categories.
This year, the Araucanía Binational Games will bring together approximately 2,500 participants, including athletes, coaches, referees and delegates, from different regions of Chile, including Aysén, Ñuble, Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, Los Lagos and Magallanes. On the part of Argentina, representatives from the provinces of La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego will be present.
The Pampas athletes, selected after a rigorous preparation process, will compete in various disciplines. The list includes teams and coaches in both individual and team sports. In women’s athletics, the participants are Ornella Aimetta, Alma Cabrera, and Lucila Calvo, among others, under the direction of Yésica Tomaselli. In men’s athletics, Jacinto Argañín, Julián Arrieta and Pablo Baras, among others, will compete, coached by Adrián Crespo.
A journey of competition and regional union
In basketball, the women’s team is made up of players such as Milagros Duré and Alina Farías, coached by Juan Cruz Gavazza, while the men’s team includes Giuliano Alisandroni and Franco Alvarez, under the supervision of Pablo Lamare. In cycling, cyclists Luz Andrade and Maia Berau will represent La Pampa in the women’s category, guided by Eva Pineda, while in the men’s category Elyel Correa and Lucas Fernández will compete, coached by Santiago Roumec.
In judo, the women will be led by Boris Klor and the men by Oritia González, with competitors such as Gimena Alfonso and Francisco De La Prida. In football, the women’s and men’s teams will be led by Walter Schmidt and Nicolás Sartori, respectively. In swimming, the women’s team will be under the direction of Silvia Monachesi, and the men’s team will be under the direction of Walter Benítez.
Finally, volleyball will be represented by a women’s team led by Sandra Carranza and a men’s team led by Enrique Leaniz.
The Araucanía Binational Games represent an opportunity for young athletes to show their talent and raise the sporting level of the region, strengthening cultural and sporting ties between the Argentine provinces and the participating Chilean regions.
