Darbhanga. The women’s table tennis team of Lalit Narayan Mithila University created history on Friday. By becoming champion for the first time in the Eastern Region Inter University Table Tennis Competition, the team has added another achievement to the kitty of LNMIV. The LNMV team has qualified for the All India Inter University Table Tennis (Women) competition as well as the national level Khelo India competition.

Team manager Kumar Amresh said that the team had secured its place in the top four on Thursday by defeating Vardhaman University, West Bengal in the qualifying round. After this, in the league match organized for ranking among the top four teams, Lanamivi’s team won all its three matches and won the title of champion. He told that in the Eastern Region Inter University Women’s Table Tennis Competition held at Royal Global University, Guwahati, Assam, the first match of LNMV team in the league round was against Adams University of West Bengal. Lanamivi defeated Adams University by a margin of 3.1. The second match was against Kolkata University, West Bengal, which LNMV team won with an impressive score of 3-0. The final match was played with Jadavpur University, West Bengal, which LNMV team defeated 3-1 and won the champion title.

Sports Officer of LNMV, Prof. Expressing happiness over the team’s spectacular victory, Ajay Nath Jha said that our team did not lose a single match in this competition, this is no small thing. Congratulating the entire team, he said that Lanamivi has also hosted women’s table tennis, but this is the first time that the title of champion of the Eastern Region has been received. The Registrar and Finance Officer also congratulated all the women Kabaddi players. Deputy Sports Officer Amrit Kumar Jha said that the women’s table tennis team has made the entire state along with Mithilanchal proud with its excellent performance. Sports Technical Manish Raj, while congratulating the team for the victory, said that till now the teams of West Bengal have dominated in this competition, which has been broken this time by LNMV.

Momita became the best player of the competition: Momita Paul, a player from RK College, Madhubani, included in the table tennis team of LNV, has been awarded the title of best player in the Eastern Region Inter-University Table Tennis (Women) Competition. For this, Momita was honored separately. Apart from these, the team includes Kalyani Kumari of RK College, Ritika Gupta of Millat Teachers Training College and Diksha Biswas and Ananya Santra of Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
