The Ploërmel employment area has a very low unemployment rate and a certain economic dynamism. Two elements which seriously complicate the task of companies which have difficulty recruiting. A context which particularly affects the agri-food sector which suffers from a poor image. So, companies, but also their economic partners such as France Travail, are increasing their ingenuity to attract job candidates. This is how since 2022, around thirty meetings have been organized in Brittany around the theme “from the stadium to employment”. An initiative taken as part of the prospect of the Paris Olympic Games and elsewhere financed by the Olympic committee. The system was extended until 2025 and was implemented for the first time this Tuesday in the Pays de Ploërmel. A date chosen because it falls within the agri-food week, which allowed the teams from the France Travail agency in Ploërmel, working with the “Businesses s’engage” community, the Brittany League and the Taupont Badminton club, to obtain financial support from several partners in this sector of activity (ABEA, Apec, Apecita and Ocapiat). Because this action carried out in Taupont was the first which was not financed by the Olympic committee.

The principle of the “stage towards employment” is to use the values of sport to “break the codes” and reinvent the job interview. No CV, no cover letters, no stressful job interview… No, during these days, job seekers and recruiters find themselves around the practice of a sport, but without knowing who is the applicant and who is the recruiter. Both are identified only by their first names. This anonymity makes it possible to remove barriers and allows interpersonal skills, team spirit, rigor, the ability to listen to each other and affinities to be created spontaneously, especially as it continues around the meal taken together. It is only in the afternoon that the masks fall and the job seekers discover the recruiters. Then it’s time for job dating, i.e. job interviews. And it works. With hindsight, France Travail notes that these operations result in a return to employment rate of 60%. Sylvie Hello, the director of the France Travail Ploërmel agency and Angélique Goodall, the regional director of France Travail have also underlined the interest of this formula.

This Tuesday in Taupont, ten companies in the Ploërmel sector representing around a hundred vacancies and around a hundred job seekers took part in this original recruitment operation. It took place in a very relaxed atmosphere, led by educators from the Badminton League, like the job interviews which took an unusual form since they took place in the stands…
