The Las Vegas Raiders have filled several coaching positions after a disappointing season, bringing back Norv Turner as an experienced assistant. The former Raiders head coach will initially take on a supporting role and will bring in his immense experience.
Norv Turner also brings an impressive track record, including two Super Bowl victories as a coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys. He was the Raiders’ head coach under Al Davis from 2004 to 2005, but did not establish himself long-term and left the team with a record of 9-23. In addition to the Raiders, Turner was also the head coach at Washington and the San Diego Chargers, where he compiled a mixed record of 114-122-1 in 15 seasons.
At 72, Turner is one of the league’s most respected offensive experts. He is supposed to strengthen the management team of the new head coach Antonio Pierce and compensate for the lack of influence of the dismissed coaches. Turner’s most recent position was with the Carolina Panthers in 2019 as an advisor to the head coach after also serving as offensive coordinator there.
