The Bears will never get a good quarterback. Caleb Williams, who some wanted to present as the future star of the NFL, drowned against New England, making a mediocre copy in every way.
Every NFL Wednesday, the rookie newspaper honors the most prominent rookies. The best offensive beginner, his defensive alter-ego, the action, the revelation of the week, the flop… And, finally, Power Rooking. Everything, you will know everything about the rookies!
Offensive Rookie of the Week
Bo Nix – QB – Denver Broncos
22/30, 215 yards, 2 touchdowns
He came within a (blocked) kick of creating one of the surprises of the season. Bo Nix held his own against the very good Chiefs defense. He quickly put his team in front and put his team in position to score the winning field goal at the buzzer. Precise, clean and efficient, the good recipe put in place by the quarterback is starting to make him look like a very good move for the Broncos.
Defensive Rookie of the Week
Jared Verse – Edge – Los Angeles Rams (19e choix)
4 tackles including 1 for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 covered fumble, 1 QB hit
Another impressive performance from the new darling of the Rams. Proof of his strength, he completely pushed his opposite side to get Tagovailoa, causing the fumble on impact. He has become the leader and new face of the Rams defensive line.
Special Mention: Kamari Lassiter – CB – Houston Texans (42nd choice)
1 tackle, 2 interceptions, 2 passes defended
This is called anti-aircraft defense. The Texans cornerback had more interceptions than tackles against the Lions. Two interceptions near the end zone. The 2nd makes it possible to stop the Lions in the red zone and offer a huge break to the Texans then ahead 23 to 7.
Action of the week
Ricky Pearsall – WR – San Francisco 49ers (31e choix)
After a start to the season cut short by a shooting from which he miraculously escaped, Ricky Pearsall is making his place in the 49ers attack. The former Gators receiver scored his first NFL touchdown on a nice reception followed by a race where he kept Antoine Winfield in check. A 46 yard action full of class.
The flop of the week
Caleb Williams – QB – Chicago Bears (1er choix)
0 receptions, 2 carries, -10 yards
After an improvement at the beginning of October, Caleb Williams continues a third game without a touchdown and as many defeats in a row. Especially the 1st pick of the last draft conceded 9 sacks. If his line is not the best in the league, far from it, he is far from impeccable in his pocket management. Quite the contrary. Barely more than half of his passes completed, for a total of starving yards. We are very far from the fireworks promised during the draft process. A situation which is starting to annoy Chicago and which has just cost the offensive coordinator his life.
The revelation of the week
Malik Washington – WR – Miami Dolphins (184e choix)
1 réception, 17 yards, 1 course, 18 yards, 1 touchdown
It’s not easy to find a place in a squad of receivers that includes so much talent and stars. Little involved in the Dolphins’ attack until then, Malik Washington took advantage of the games he was given to stand out. A 17-yard reception, but above all a reverse run through the middle of the opposing defense to score his first career touchdown.
