Even a LeBron James isn’t getting any younger. A few weeks before his 40th birthday, the NBA superstar announced his imminent retirement.

LeBron James, 39, is considered an absolutely exceptional athlete. No other professional basketball player has had such an impact on the US NBA professional league in recent years as he has. “I don’t know how many years that is. Whether it’s one year or two years, whatever the case may be,” James explained. However, he knows that at some point the time will come to abdicate. “I said the other day that I’m not going to play anymore until the wheels fall off,” James continued. “I’m not going to be that guy. I’m not going to be that guy that disrespects the game because I just wanted to be on the field.”

James recently made NBA history with his son. The star played with Bronny, 20, for the Los Angeles Lakers, making the two the first father-son duo to play together for a regular-time match in the league.
