MUNICIPAL. Various subjects affected the Saint-Georges Recreation and Culture Department on Monday, November 11, at the most recent public meeting of the municipal council.
Concerning the redevelopment of the baseball field at the Lacroix-Dutil sports center, the council accepts the evaluation criteria for the provision of professional services linked to future plans and specifications. A call for tenders will be launched later.
Elected officials adopted the regulation establishing the new prices at the Saint-Georges ski center. Grant payments will be made to the Minor Soccer Association ($49,294), the 2625 Corps of Cadets ($4,078) and the Minor Baseball Association ($2,334).
Among the other resolutions adopted, we find the resignation of four maintenance employees and two employees in the catering service of the Lacroix-Dutil sports center. The council creates a committee for the hiring of a new aquatics manager at the multisport complex.
At the end of the meeting, councilors commented on the end of the strike at the Leisure and Culture Department. Everyone is happy with the outcome of this conflict, with Mayor Claude Morin inviting citizens to respect union members returning to work.
“It is not the fault, individually, of all the workers. Let’s be respectful. […] Now we look forward,” said he, who also paid tribute to the military on the occasion of Remembrance Day.

With the City, Garage Veilleux et fils inc. transfers an easement of its land for the installation and maintenance of a new traffic light. It will be in operation next month, at the intersection of Boulevard Dionne and the 32e Rue.
There will be an extension of municipal services on the 37e Street, in the west industrial park, over a length of 755 meters. There are six industrial lands there, four of which belong to the city of Saint-Georges.
Solotech Inc., for a sum of $114,555, was awarded the contract for the supply and installation of audiovisual equipment for the new municipal court. The municipal council also adopted its new family and seniors policy for the period 2025-2029. This is an update of the action plan developed in 2014.
