Liga de Quito, awaiting the resolution of its appeal

On Saturday, November 16, Quito League reported on a sanction from the Disciplinary Commission of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) that determined the subtraction of three points in the second stage of the Pro League.

This measure is due to economic non-compliance within the established period by Liga Pro. Although the club claims to have fulfilled its obligations, it did not submit the corresponding notification on time, which triggered the sanction.

If so, the albos would be positioned as favorites to compete in the Pro League final for the second consecutive year. However, if the appeal is unsuccessful and the Valley Independent (IDV) does its job on the last date, the striped team could become champions directly.

When is the appeal resolved?

After the 4-2 victory of Liga de Quito against Catholic UniversityOn the penultimate day, Isaac Álvarez, president of the club, referred to the appeal process.

We hope that these days the three points that correspond to us by law will be returned to us. The payment was made, but it was not notified in time, and the penalty is not proportional. We presented the appeal yesterday (Saturday, November 23),” declared Álvarez.

The club expects to receive, no later than Tuesday, November 26, the notice about appeal hearingwhich must be done before the last day of the tournament, as it is an urgent issue.

The position of the FEF

Francisco Egas, president of the FEFalso spoke about the sanction in an interview with Radio The Network. He explained the reasons behind the measure and the importance of resolving the issue in the competitive context.

“I hope that the inputs presented are sufficient evidence to overcome this in the spirit of competition. The case of Liga de Quito lies in providing the necessary evidence. It is sad that points won on the field are lost due to an administrative issue,” Egas commented.

The outcome of this appeal will be crucial not only for the immediate future of Quito Leaguebut also to define the LigaPro 2024 champion.
