The first half offered a minimum of chances. The home side were the first to threaten in the 26th minute, when Stassin received a pass in the penalty area, sent a ground shot, and goalkeeper Horníček had difficulty pulling the ball out for a corner.
The lion cubs scored with considerable luck in the 34th minute. Goalkeeper Lammens hit Karabke during a kick-off in the penalty area, from which the ball bounced directly into the goal.
At the beginning of the second half, the guests almost struck again, but this time luck turned away from them. Sejk hit the stopper Van Den Bosch with a shot from the turn and the ball went to Lammens’ counter move, but it was stopped by the post.
The home team came close to equalizing after an hour, but Stassin fired into the side netting from the penalty area. The Czech youngsters added the desired insurance in the 80th minute. After a corner kick, the ball fell on the edge of the small area to Filo, who quickly made his way through. Suchopárk’s selection won for the third time in a row. The Czech twenty-one team played against Belgium for the eighth time and won for the fifth time.
Slovakia will host the championship next year from June 11 to 28. 13 of the 16 participants are known, the last three will emerge from the playoffs. Czech youngsters competed in the last two ECs, each time they were eliminated in the group.
