Los Angeles City Council can adopt a sanctuary city ordinance this Tuesday to officially prohibit any city resources or personnel from being used to enforce federal immigration laws.
City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto, along with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, made public last week the draft of the ordinance after it was convened more than a year ago.
Councilors Hugo Soto-Martínez and Mónica Rodríguez, who chair the Civil Rights and Public Safety committees of the Municipal Council, respectively, exempted the matter from their jurisdictions, which accelerated the vote on the issue by the full council.
