Ludger Beerbaum: Interview about his success story – Sport

Olympic champion Ludger Beerbaum now runs a company that has produced some of the world’s best horses and riders. In the interview he explains which principles are important to him and what can still be improved when dealing with animals.

The address is deceptive: Processionsweg 2 in Riesenbeck, which sounds like a staid, Catholic Westphalian province. But here, on the flat land, Ludger Beerbaum, 60, four-time Olympic champion, two-time individual European champion and two-time team world champion, is turning a very big wheel. His Ludger Beerbaum Stables, which also includes a station with 18 breeding stallions, are a success story. A few hundred meters away, Riesenbeck International, a competition sports center, has been built, where European championships in jumping and dressage have already taken place. A success story with many facets, the pivotal point of which is Beerbaum himself, even though he said goodbye to active top sport two years ago and only gets into the saddle at home.
