President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this during a conversation with activists of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union – fighters of the student squad that took part in the reconstruction of the Traktor stadium, BELTA correspondent reports.

“The whole problem we have is the physical condition of the athlete. They are not physically ready to perform in certain sports at the highest level. In football, they cannot run from the first to the last minute. They cannot run at a high pace for 90 minutes. And then there’s and you have to think. Football has become very fast,” noted Alexander Lukashenko.

According to him, the growth points for Belarusian sports are small sports grounds where children practice. It is there that coaches must notice a promising athlete in time and attract him to their section. “We already have a sea of ​​these sites. But the main thing is to captivate children. We need to start working from school, from 6-7 years old. And for some types, like rhythmic gymnastics, at the age of three,” the President noted. “If you missed it, years 10-15 – it will be difficult. It’s possible, but difficult.”

The guys asked the head of state what his most vivid impressions were while playing football. The president said that during his school years, football was played on the village field. Moreover, all the children in the village were fond of it, and there were many of them. Alexander Lukashenko continued to play football during his student years.

“But I still have this – this village sourdough. I ran a lot then, played sports. I wanted to be a football player. But then I injured my knee, and I switched to hockey,” the head of state noted. “I recommend playing football, but I don’t recommend running.” asphalt, because over time it always comes out sideways.
