The right thrower Luke Weaver will continue to provide the lock for the New York Yankeesafter the team exercised the option for 2025.
Weaver, 31, had arguably the best season of his career in 2024. He had a 2.89 ERA with 103 strikeouts in 84.0 innings.
He was the setup man for closer Clay Holmes before assuming that role in September. In his final 11.0 innings, Weaver allowed just one unearned run and just four hits while striking out 24 batters.
In the postseason, Weaver continued to dominate from the bullpen. The right-hander saved four games and earned one victory during the Yankees’ march to the World Series. In 15.1 innings in the playoffs/World Series, he had a 1.76 earned run average.

He was sidelined between April 19 and May 22, due to a left adductor strain, and between June 2 and July 9, due to a left groin strain.
Snell won Cy Young Awards in 2018 with the Tampa Bay Rays and in 2023 with the San Diego Padres. He is 76-58 with a 3.19 ERA in nine seasons with the Rays (2016-20), Padres (2021-23) and Giants.
Because Snell turned down a qualifying offer from San Diego last NovemberSan Francisco is not eligible to make him a qualifying offer this offseason and he will not receive draft pick compensation if he signs with another team.
