Lyon gets the job done against Roma

Clear and flawless victory for the Lyonnaises in Rome (0-3), they take the lead in their group.

Lyon took the lead in Group A of the Women’s Football Champions League after beating AS Rome (3-0) on Wednesday at the Tre Fontane stadium in Rome on the 3rd day, thanks in particular to a double from its attacker Haitian international, Melchie Dumornay.

Dumornay, after seeing the goalkeeper advance, scored a lob from almost 50 meters which allowed OL to lead 2-0 (41st). She opened the scoring by catching a poorly cleared ball at close range following a cross delivered by Dzsenifer Marozsan (36th). These two goals, the first two for the 21-year-old Haitian in the competition this season, confirmed the great domination of the Lyonnaises in the first period.

Dumornay could have added a third goal but his shot, deflected, went just wide (51st). She was replaced in the 82nd minute by Eugénie Le Sommer who entered at the same time as Sarah Däbritz and Vicky Becho. The substitutions made in the second half, however, altered the cohesion of the Lyon team after half-time, once Canadian Vanessa Gilles made it 3-0 after receiving a corner (52nd).

Only Amel Majri (77th) or Becho (87th) had a real possibility of widening the gap while Tabitha Chawinga left in the 69th minute without being able to unlock her counter in the competition.

Lyon, with three victories in as many matches and still no goals conceded in the event, occupy first place in the group with three points ahead of the Romans who have two wins for one defeat. The two teams will face each other again on November 20 at the Groupama stadium in Décines-Charpieu on the occasion of the next day of C1 with the possibility for OL to ensure qualification and take a very strong option on the lead of the group.
