Bright Maddaloni Nosa reached the 81 kg final with four victories over the Serbian Velimir Kosovic, the Turkish Musa Simsek, the Israeli Yaniv Agronov and in the semi-final over the Czech Petr Mlady. In the gold final, thanks to an injury, Maddaloni Nosa remained on the tatami but was defeated by the Azerbaijani Kote Kapanadze.
