The Community of Madrid organizes a solidarity race in collaboration with MAPOMA, aimed at raising funds for those affected by the recent cold drop in Valencia. With three types of route and the goal of bringing together 5,000 runners, this event is presented as an opportunity for sport and solidarity.
Next December 1, the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid will be filled with runners who will participate in the solidarity race “Madrid runs for Valencia”. Organized by the Community of Madrid in collaboration with the MAPOMA sports association, the initiative seeks raise funds to support victims of the recent cold drop that has left significant damage in Valencia and its region. The race will allow those registered to choose which entity to allocate their donation, with options such as the Red Cross, Cáritas Española or the solidarity account of the Valencian Government, destined for the reconstruction of affected areas.
Modalities for all audiences and active solidarity
With an accessible offer adapted to all ages and abilities, the event will have three race types: a 10-kilometer route for those over 16 years of age, a 5-kilometer route and a 2 kilometer family walk open to all the public. Furthermore, for those who wish to collaborate without running, the “Dorsal Cero” option allows you to make a donation from 10 euros, in support of the same charitable cause.
General registration It costs 12.60 euros, of which 12 will go entirely to the charities selected by each participant, and 0.6 euros will cover management costs. In order to encourage participation and strengthen the bond of solidarity, each runner will receive a bib number, a commemorative t-shirt, supplies at the finish line and a virtual diploma as a souvenir of their involvement.
An event that adds to the Valencia Marathon
Curiously, this Madrid race will coincide in date with the popular Valencia Marathonwhich will allow the Madrid participants to feel in brotherhood with the Valencian citizens. At 9:00 a.m., Paseo de la Castellana will see the runners leave Recoletos for Plaza de Castilla or Nuevos Ministerios, depending on the chosen modality. The route, designed to highlight some of the capital’s iconic points, will also allow participants to enjoy a day of sports in the heart of Madrid, celebrating the solidarity between both communities.
Solidarity culture: The Canal Theaters also join
In parallel to the race, the Community of Madrid has also added the Teatros del Canal to the solidarity cause. The functions of the work Wedding day at the Cromagnonsscheduled for November 29 and 30 within the Autumn Festival, will allocate all their proceeds to the Generalitat Valenciana to support the repair and reconstruction work.
