Manchester United has officially signed Ruben Amorim from Sporting.
In a statement released at 12pm this Friday, the Red Devils confirmed that the 39-year-old coach signed a contract valid for the next two and a half seasons: until June 2027 with another season as an option.
In the same note it is said that Amorim arrives at Old Trafford on November 11, the day after Sp. Braga-Sporting, which will be the last game ahead of the lions.
«Ruben Amorim is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football», reads a short note in which the two national championships won by Sporting and the fact that, in 2021, a 19-year fast are interrupted .
Amorim, who will also guide Sporting in games with Estrela da Amadora, Manchester City and Sp. Braga, makes his debut in charge of the Red Devils on November 24th, on the trip to Ipswich Town, in a Premier League game.
Until the arrival of the Lions coach, Ruud van Nistelrooy will continue to lead the Red Devils on an interim basis.
Ruben Amorim, who arrived at Sporting in March 2020, won five titles with the Lions: in addition to the two championships, he won two League cups and one Super Cup.
