Léon Marchand‘s trophy cabinet could still be fuller. From December 10 to 15, the Toulouse swimmer will compete in the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Budapest. He will be accompanied by 12 other French people, including Maxime Grousset and Anastasiia Kirpichnikova. The four-time Olympic champion, already a five-time gold medalist at the World Championships in the long course, has never been on a podium in the short course.
However, he has a good chance of achieving it this winter. Participating in the World Cup in Asia, the Frenchman won numerous victories, each time winning the 100m medley, the 200m medley and the 400m medley. He also won the general classification of the World Cup, and a check for 100,000 dollars.
In total, 13 Tricolores will participate in the competition in the Hungarian capital. Among the women, Béryl Gastaldello, Mélanie Henique, Pauline Mahieu, Analia Pigrée and Olympic silver medalist Anastasiia Kirpichnikova will be there.
