Mayos humiliate Tomateros leader in the Mexican Pacific League

The Mayos de Navojoa put together six-run attacks in the fourth and fifth innings and signed a crushing 12-1 victory on Thursday over the Tomateros de Culiacán, who lead the Mexican Pacific League.

Juan Uriarte went 1 for 5, hit a bases-loaded home run and added five RBIs, while Misael Rivera added a two-run home run for the Mayos’ explosive attack.

In Mexicali, Darel Torres pitched six innings in which he allowed three hits and one run, Félix Stevens hit a two-run homer and the Cañeros de Los Mochis beat the Águilas 2-1.

In Hermosillo, Zach Muckenhirn allowed one run in six innings in which he fanned seven opponents and Ricardo Valenzuela drove in two runs with a double in the Sultanes de Monterrey’s 3-1 victory over the Naranjeros.

In Obregón, the Japanese Taiga Kamichatani pitched five and a third scoreless innings with six strikeouts, and Carlos Garzón hit a two-run home run for the Algodoneros de Guasave, who blanked the Yaquis 3-0.

In Mazatlán, Reynaldo Rodríguez hit a three-run home run to cap a four-run attack with which the Charros de Jalisco defeated the Venados 5-1 and added their ninth win in their last ten games.

Tomateros lead with a record of 22-7, followed by Cañeros (18-11), Naranjeros (16-13), Águilas (15-13), Charros (15-14), Algodoneros (15-14), Yaquis (12- 16), Mayos (12-17), Deers (11-18) and Sultans (8-21).

Dominican

The Eastern Stars exploded with a six-run attack in the third inning and beat the Cibao Gigantes 11-2, who suffered their fifth loss in a row and are last in the Dominican Baseball League.

David Buñelos went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Ismael Mungía went 3 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Miguel Sanó drove in two more with a double for the winners.

In Santiago, Troy Johnson drove in two runs with a double in the top of the 10th inning and the Toros del Este scored a dramatic 5-4 victory over the Águilas Cibaeñas.

Leones lead with a record of 15-5, followed by Tigres del Licey (11-8), Estrellas Orientales (10-10), Águilas Cibaeñas (8-11), Toros del Este (8-12) and Gigantes del Cibao (7 -13).

Venezuela

The Leones del Caracas deployed a 15-hit offensive that included four home runs to crush the Tiburones de La Guaira 14-6, who have lost three games in a row and eight of their last ten in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Harold Castro went 3 for 4 with two home runs, three RBIs and four runs scored, while Lenyn Sosa and Aldrem Corredor each hit home runs and drove in two runs for the Lions.

In Porlamar, Renato Núñez hit a three-run home run while Diego Rincones went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the Navegantes del Magallanes’ 8-7 victory over the Bravos de Margarita.

In Barquisimeto, Ildemaro Vargas went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored to lead the Cardenales de Lara to a 6-3 victory over the Caribes de Anzoátegui.

Braves lead the circuit with a record of 15-11, followed by Navegantes (13-10), Águilas (13-11), Tigres (12-11), Tiburones (14-13), Leones (10-11), Cardinals ( 10-12), and Caribes (9-17).
