McKay bleibt QB1 – Frankfurt Galaxy American Football

The Frankfurt Galaxy have re-signed their quarterback Matthew McKay for the 2025 season.

The US import joined in Week 8 of last season and showed what he could do in six games. The 25-year-old completed almost 60 percent of his passes, collected a total of 1,393 passing yards and threw ten touchdowns with just three interceptions.
He also proved his skills as a dual-threat quarterback, scoring an impressive 432 yards and three touchdowns on 63 running attempts.

He began his college career in 2017 at Division 1 North Carolina State. During the 2019 season, he threw for 910 passing yards and scored three passing touchdowns in six games. Matthew transferred to Montana State for the 2020 season. There he was active as the starting quarterback for all 11 games and led his team to a 9-2 game record with 2,037 passing yards and 17 touchdowns.

In his senior year, McKay transferred to Elon, where he finished the season with 21 touchdown passes and 458 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
In 2023, he signed a letter of intent with the San Antonio Brahms of the XFL.

“Matt came to us last year during a very difficult phase and completely convinced us of his qualities,” explains Galaxy sports director Thomas Kösling. He added: “There was no question for us as a franchise that we wanted to sign him again. Now that our new head coach has also given his approval, we are very pleased to be able to present Matthew as the Galaxy’s quarterback again next year.”

“Run It Back,” says Matt in a few words, he is ready for the coming season and motivated to lead the Galaxy Offense from the start.
