Medals and a lot of competition for Santa Cruz

Continuing Santa Cruz’s participation in the national finals of the Evita 2024 Sports Games, Thursday was a very auspicious day for the provincial athletes, who, in addition to obtaining victories, showed high performance in all disciplines.

With the support of the Ministry of Social Development, Equality and Integration, from the Secretary of State for Sports and Recreation, Santa Cruz athletes continue to add medals and show a high level in each competition in the city of Mar del Plata, carrying out a great participation on Thursday.

In this context, the provincial delegation obtained 3rd place overall in PCD Swimming (Sports for People with Disabilities), and is going for a place in the women’s and men’s futsal finals; in women’s boxing; and table tennis continues to stand out with medals. For its part, women’s 3×3 basketball will define 3rd place, like badminton.

Santa Cruz athletes continue to compete and enjoy this great experience of being part of the Evita National Games. Below is a summary of the participation of the athletes representing our province.

-PCD Swimming

Arzest Bianca: 1st place 50m backstroke (s11)

Iturriza Brizuela, Emma: 1st place in 25 free, 25 back, 50 free and 50 back.(s14)

Hernández Serra, Valentín: 1st place in 50 m backstroke (s9)

Campaña, Cristóbal: 1st place in 25 m free and backstroke and 50 m. free and back (s4)

Alcocer Muñoz, Jazmín: 1st place in 50 meters. butterfly(s9)

-PCD Athletics

Andrés Catrileo 2nd in long jump, Lautaro Bossio 1st in long jump and Ignacio Cortes 2nd in 200 meters and shot put.

-Table tennis

Thursday was more than positive for the Santa Cruz delegation that had 3rd Place in doubles, Sebastián Bustamante and Lautaro Escobar. Additionally, in PCD Elías Muñoz is going to the doubles semifinal with his partner from Mendoza, and Nazareno Infante will compete in the individual final against Corrientes.

-Rhythmic Gymnastics

The Santa Cruz team made its presentation at level 1 with Iñaki Moreno, Simón Quintana and Máximo Azocar (12th).

Additionally, Felipe Fernández Giménez competed in level 3 projection and came in 7th place.

-Badminton

Mixed Double under 16 (Lujan Carraro and Tomás Pérez) 2-0 vs San Juan

Men’s single: 0-2 vs Córdoba.

Single Femenino: 2-0 vs Chaco.

Women’s Single: 2-0 vs. San Luis.

Men’s Singles vs Corrientes.

Mixed Double: 0-2 vs. San Luis.

-Men’s futsal

The Santa Cruz futsal team beat Córdoba 4 to 1 in its first match and repeated the result against Mendoza. This Friday they will play against Río Negro in search of a place in the final.

-Women’s Futsal

Women’s futsal tied against Tierra del Fuego and beat Chubut 2 to 1. This Friday they will seek to be in a final.

Boxing

-The young Kimey Pérez from Puerto San Julián faced Tiziana Rodríguez from Córdoba and beat her on points, this way tomorrow she will compete in the semifinals.

Máximo Cáceres from Puerto San Julián fell by Technical KO, in a controversial referee decision, against Carlos Castagnaro from Salta.
