Mexican judo team shines at the Junior Pan American Cup Montreal 2024
_ The Mexican judo team achieved an outstanding participation in the Montreal 2024 Junior Pan American Cup, qualifying for the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, obtaining a total of seven medals: one gold, three silver and three bronze. This performance places Mexico in third place overall, behind Canada and the United States.

The most outstanding judoka was Rafael Ramírez, who was crowned champion in the -73 kilogram division after beating the Dutch Paolo Maaskant with a streak of four consecutive victories. This victory positions Ramírez as one of the great promises of national judo.

In second place on the podium, Carlos Hernández (-60 kg), Aylin Ávila (-52 kg) and Yamileth Juárez (-70 kg) shone. For their part, the bronze medalists were Eduardo Sagastegui (-60 kg), Hugo Sánchez (+100 kg) and Daniela Leandro (-48 kg), consolidating a solid performance for the tricolor team.

According to the Mexican Judo Federation, Mexican athletes have two more competitions in 2025 to add points and ensure their classification to the Junior Pan American Games in Asunción. This performance in Montreal reinforces his chances of standing out in the world ranking.

The Mexican team will continue its activity this weekend. Rafael Ramírez will compete again in the Pan American Cadet Cup this Friday, while Juan Ramírez and José Ramírez will participate in the Pan American Open on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
