The Mexican judo team will compete in the Junior and Cadet Pan American Championships, as well as in the Senior Pan American Open, tournaments that will be held this Thursday in Montreal, Canada.
The Junior Pan American Cup is a competition to qualify for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, which will be held in Asunción, Paraguay. In this competition, the national delegation will be made up of eight men and five women.
The selected athletes who will compete in the continental championship are: Hugo Sánchez, Paula Sánchez, Dante Flores, Yamileth Juárez, Yael Díaz, Frida Maya, Rafael Ramírez, Aylin Ávila, Juan Ramírez, Daniela Leandro, Ian Aguirre, Eduardo Sagastegui and Carlos Macías.
Jorge Luis Atencio, Head of national coaches, explained that some athletes already have classification, while other competitors must reach third or second place to earn classification.
These competitions will be taken into account by the world ranking of the International Judo Federation for the Cadet under-18 and Junior under-21 categories, while the Open will be taken into account for older categories.
