MLB: Alex Bregman and Willy Adames ready to trade positions for good offer

Every player has his price and the expression seems to apply perfectly for Alex Bregman and Willy Adames.

In search of a new contract, the two infield players would be ready to move to a new position if the offer suits them.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA Todayseveral teams reportedly asked Bregman if he could play second base. Aged 30, he made his reputation at third base with the Houston Astros. Last season, he hit 26 home runs and produced 75 RBIs in his ninth campaign in a Houston uniform.

On the Adames side, Katie Woo of The Athletic suggested that the 29-year-old could move on from shortstop if a big offer comes to him from a team in position to win the big honors.

Adames hit a career-high 31 home runs and drove in 112 runs with 21 stolen bases for the Brewers in 2024.

Betts back in the infield

After a World Series and the expected celebrations, the Los Angeles Dodgers are already thinking about the next season. Shohei Ohtani has already gone under the knife, and now we’re focusing on the Mookie Betts file before returning to play.

An eight-time All-Star, the 32-year-old veteran was patrolling the fields as an outfielder at the end of last season, but things will change in 2025.

Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes confirmed to the media this week that Betts will return to the infield next season.

“It could be at second base,” he said, “it could also happen at shortstop. »

Betts played the first 72 games of the season at shortstop in 2024, having split his time between right field and second base before that. But since his return from injury in August, a broken hand, it is in right field that Betts has played defensively.

To fill out his field, the Dodgers could offer another contract to Teoscar Hernandez, now a free agent. There is also the name of Juan Soto which is circulating a lot, he who is currently looking for the most advantageous situation for the rest of his career.

Betts’ versatility fits into the team’s philosophy while several other players patrol multiple positions on the field. Gavin Lux, for example, or Tommy Edman and Chris Taylor. All this without mentioning the sensation Ohtani who is a star starting pitcher in addition to an MVP with his bat and his stolen bases this season.

The issues to be resolved for the champions are few in number, but they will make waves this winter. Even more so if the team once again turns to Japan to add an exceptional pitcher to its rotation.
