Moisés Gómez wins an MLB contract thanks to his home runs in the LVBP

Moisés Gomez signed a Minor League contract with the San Diego Padres, according to the manager of the Margarita Braves Jose Moreno to One Baseball TV. It will be the outfielder’s return to the Major League Baseball (MLB) system after being released in the middle of the year.

It is an award for Gómez’s great performance in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). The slugger established himself as a power hitter and, with the continuous home runs he has unleashed with the island uniform, he earned a new chance to fulfill his dream of being in the big league.

Those numbers caused the Padres to offer the Venezuelan a deal. It will not guarantee him playing in the Major Leagues, but he may have an invitation to Spring Training and there he will show the coaches if he can be material to contribute in the Big League.

NATO HOMERUNNER

Moisés Gomez He established himself as a slugger during his time in the Minor Leagues. He hit 39 home runs in 2022 and another 30 a year later, on that occasion playing entirely in Triple A. However, he never received the call to the Major Leagues by the St. Louis Cardinals.

In fact, the Red Birds lost patience with the Venezuelan at the end of July 2024, when they released him. At that time he was hitting .194/.278/.277 with three homers, four doubles and 11 RBIs in 45 games between a rookie league and Triple A.

After the dismissal, Gómez left for the American Association, an independent circuit. However, it is his performance in the LVBP that opened the doors of MLB again.
