More than 100 secondary school students come together in Estepona to help little Jadow

He IV Solidarity Intercenter Badminton Meetingwhich was held this Tuesday, November 5 in Estepona, brought together at the El Carmen Sports Center about 150 3rd and 4th ESO students from the IES Mar de Alborán, Mediterráneo, Monterroso and Professor Hormigoas well as secondary school students John XXIII School.

The IV Intercentros Solidario Badminton Meeting has been organized by the Estepona City Council, together with the associations Alejandro Navarro Athlete and UBUNTU Estepona, and the Estepona Badminton Club. It has also had the technical assistance of the Estepona Badminton Club and more than 30 Baccalaureate students from the IES Mediterráneo, who acted as referees and volunteers.

During the first three hours of the tournament, each participating couple played the 4/5 games corresponding to the Liguilla Phase.

After the finals, the results obtained were the following:

Category 3 ESO (FEM)

– Champions: Elena Pérez González and Remedios Sofía Maldonado Mena (IES Monterroso)

– Runners-up: Reham Vázquez El Marrouni and Marta Vargas Márquez (IES Monterroso)

Category 4 ESO (FEM)

– Champions: Tamara Corrales López and Zhenni Huang (IES Monterroso)

– Runners-up: Lucía Gil de Haro and Sara Contreras Martínez (IES Mar Alborán)

Category 3 ESO (MASC)

– Champions: Manuel Aitor Eslava Díaz and Oliver García Medel (IES Prof. Tomás Hormigo)

– Runners-up: David Yuste Hidalgo and Francisco Bernal Ordóñez (IES Prof. Tomás Hormigo)

Category 4 ESO (MASC)

– Champions: Andrés Cintado and Sidd Malhotra (John XXIII-Fund. Victoria)

– Runners-up: Hugo Calvente García and Álvaro Gavira López (IES Mediterráneo)

As a final act, the competition coordinator and coach of the Estepona Badminton Club, Lucas Carmona; the representative of UBUNTU, Antonio Rodríguez; the president of AND, Alejandro Navarro; and the rest of the Physical Education teachers from the participating centers, presented the trophies to the finalists, as well as t-shirts, a gift from the Badminton club.

It is worth highlighting the solidarity nature of this event, which this year has aimed to raise funds for the therapies needed by little Jadow, a Primary student at the Simón Fernández School. In the middle of the day, the Ubuntu and AND associations presented Jadow’s family with the proceeds obtained from the registration and sale of the solidarity pendants.
