Outsiders Murcianos arrives for another season. In this section we review what happens to players, coaches and other athletes in the world of basketball who are from our land but who compete outside the Region of Murcia. If you know of an “outsider” who does not appear on the list, you can send us the information to [email protected] so we can include them and follow up.
EXPLANATORY NOTE: In this list we include players, coaches and trainers who compete OUTSIDE OUR REGION and in CLUBS THAT ARE NOT FROM THE REGION (we would go crazy otherwise…).
- Chumi Ortega, Álex Hernández, Luismi Castillo and Cristobal Sánchez (Endesa League)
Chumi Ortega will play this season for Morabanc Andorra, after being one of the most outstanding players last season at Zunder Palencia. Defeat of the Andorran team against Unicaja (89-106), with 3 points, 1 rebound and 2 assists from Yeclano. Thirteenth position for Andorra (3-5), which this weekend rests due to the qualification windows for Eurobasket 2025 and would visit, on Saturday, November 30, Básquet Girona (20:45).
Álex Hernández achieved promotion to the Endesa League a few months ago, as captain of Leyma Coruña. Defeat on the Covirán Granada court (80-77), without the participation of the Murcian point guard. Sixteenth position for the Coruña team (2-6), who will visit the Hiopos Lleida field on Sunday, December 1 (5:00 p.m.)
Luismi Castillo whistled Surne Bilbao Basket 79-95 Joventut de Badalona alongside Carlos Cortés and Raúl Zamorano, while Cristóbal whistled Morabanc Andorra 89-106 Unicaja alongside Juan Carlos García and Arnau Padrós.
- Laura Gil, Isa Latorre and Franky García (LF Endesa)
One more season, Laura Gil will be one of the references in the painting of Perfumerías Avenida. Victory against Celta Femxa Zorka (78-62) with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists from the Murcian. Third position (5-2), before visiting Movistar Estudiantes this Saturday.
In the Euroleague, he narrowly defeated his former team, Basket Landes, 59-58 despite Laura’s 13 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. They are in third position in Group A (2-3) with one match left, in which they will host DVTK Huntherm on November 27 (20:30).
Point guard Isa Latorre signed this summer for Movistar Estudiantes, making the jump to LF Endesa after several seasons at Recoletas Zamora. The Madrid team lost against Kutxabank Araski (85-81) with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Sixth position in the league (4-3), before hosting Perfumerías Avenida on Saturday (7:30 p.m.).
In Eurocup, they beat Iraklis STIHL (102-38) with 5 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist from Isa. They are in second position in Group G (4-1).
Finally, assistant Franky García joined the Lointek Gernika discipline this summer to be part of the coaching staff led by Lucas Fernández, with whom he coincided at Hozono Global Jairis. His former team, Hozono Global Jairis, won 59-66. Fifth position for the Basque team (4-3), which receives Casademont Zaragoza this Saturday (6:30 p.m.).
- Juan Rubio and Alberto Antuña (First FEB)
Movistar Estudiantes aims to be one of the favorites to achieve promotion to the Endesa League for next season with Juan Rubio on the squad and Alberto Antuña as assistant coach. - Alejandra Sánchez and Ana Faussurier (LF Challenge)
In the second step of national women’s basketball we find Alejandra Sánchez from San Javier, who after leaving Hozono Global Jairis has signed for Melilla Ciudad del Deporte La Salle. Defeat on the CAB Estepona Jardín de la Costa del Sol court (66-54) despite 9 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Eighth position for the North Africans (4-3), before visiting Lima-Horta Barcelona this Saturday (18:15).
After achieving promotion to LF Endesa with Osés Construction Ardoi, Ana Faussurier signed this summer for Alter Enersun CB Al-Qázeres. Victory against Horbisa Spirit Greenweek Barakaldo (72-61), with 1 point and 4 rebounds from the yeclana. Fifth position for the Extremadurans (4-4), who will visit the Barça CBS field on Sunday (12:45).
- Antonio José Morales, Emilio Martínez, Fran Olmos and Juan S. Cutillas* (Second FEB)
This year we will have two representatives of our basketball in the third national echelon. Antonio José Morales will repeat at Clínica Ponferrada SDP, which saved the category and will continue in the formerly known as LEB Plata. Defeat on the La Salud Archena court (71-67), in a clash where the Lorca player grabbed 3 rebounds and gave 1 assist. Fifth position in the West Group (4-3), before hosting Biele ISB on November 30 (7:30 p.m.).
Second season for Emilio Martínez directing the game of CB Salou, where he will coincide with old acquaintances from regional basketball such as Víctor Aguilar or Juanpe Jiménez, both with a past at Odilo FC Cartagena. Triumph against Maderas Sorlí Benicarló (96-86) with a real great game from the point guard: 27 points, 3 rebounds, 4 recoveries and 30 PIR. Eleventh position for the Catalans (2-3), who will visit Ibersol CB Tarragona on December 30 (7:00 p.m.).
Finally, referee Fran Olmos did not whistle in Second FEB this past weekend.
- Iraides García (Women’s League 2)
After achieving promotion last year, Iraides García will continue at CB Terralfàs Delfín Natura in Liga Femenina 2. Defeat against Esco Grupo Femenino Alcorcón (41-56), without minutes for the Cartagena. Twelfth position in Group A (2-4) before visiting Náutico Tenerife ULL this Saturday (5:00 p.m.).

- Javi Velasco (First National Men’s ESB)

The center from Murcia, after playing last season in the G-League with Ignite, has decided to sign for the Perth Wildcats with the aim of preparing to make the jump to the NBA through the Next Stars project of the Australian league. In addition, the man from Murcia has been summoned by Sergio Scariolo to play in the Eurobasket Qualification Window on November 22 (6:30 p.m. in Bratislava) and 25 (8:00 p.m. in Ourense), in a double duel between the Spanish National Team and Slovakia. .
- Valentino Pinedo (NCAA – United States)
After playing last year with the East Carolina University Pirates, the Murcian center will play at the University of Saint Francis. In this way, it will compete in the Northeast Conference of the American university league. - Marcela Pinedo (NJCAA Region X – United States)
The player will play her second season with the Laramie County Community College Eagles jersey, in Region IX of the NJCAA. - Andrea López (CN2 – Portugal)
Andrea López, former player for Real Murcia, Maristas or Marme among others, will compete this year in Portugal’s CN2 with Club 5Basket. Victory against FCS BC Campo (37-109). First position in North Group C (5-0).
- Pedro González (BBL – Germany)
The physical trainer Pedro González will continue on the coaching staff of the German Basketball Löwen Braunschweig, in the Bundesliga. Victory against Chemnitz (82-74). Twelfth position (3-4) before facing Syntainics MBC on December 1 (3:00 p.m.).
In the FIBA Europe Cup the German team lost against Tofas Bursa (92-97), finishing in second position in Group A with a balance of 3-3 and being eliminated from the competition.
