EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO, RD.- The national senior basketball team announced this Thursday its list of 24 players called up for the second qualifying window of the FIBA AmeriCup 2025.
The Quisqueyan squad will play on November 21 against the Canadian representation in Canada, and on the 24th against Nicaragua, in the latter Central American country.
The list of those called up includes Jean Montero, Ángel Delgado, Luis Santos, Gelvis Solano, Jassel Pérez, Luis Montero, Eloy Vargas, Ángel Núñez, Omar Silverio and Lionel Figueroa.
Also called were Víctor Liz, Antonio Peña, Danny Carbuccia, Rey Abad, Anderson Mirambeaux, Rigoberto Mendoza, Richard Bautista, Jhonatan Araujo, Juan Guerrero, Juan Miguel Suero, Steven Verplancken, Jhery Matos, David Jones and Jonatan Bello.
The team’s practices began this morning and were held at the Training Center of the Dominican Basketball Federation (FEDOMBAL), located at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
The training sessions were led by the head coach of the Quisqueyan team, the Argentine Néstor (Che) García, along with his assistants David Díaz and Abraham Disla.
Gelvis Solano, Omar Silverio and Rayner Moquete reported to the first day of preparation, along with other young talents who were invited by the coaching staff.
More integrations are expected in the next few hours.
This Friday at 11:00 in the morning training will continue in the same place.
The Dominican team occupies second position in Group C, with a 1-1 record after splitting honors with Mexico last February.
The top three teams from the four groups (12 in total) will qualify for the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup.
