The National Men’s Basketball Team qualified for the finals by beating Hungary 81-76 away in the 2025 European Championship qualifiers.
With two matches remaining before the completion of the group matches, the national team has guaranteed participation in the 42nd European Basketball Championship, which will be held in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Poland on 27 August – 14 September 2025. Cedi Osman played a big role in the victory with 33 points and 11 rebounds.

Hungary started the second quarter with a 9-0 run and took the lead 23-21 for the first time in the match in the 13th minute. Taking advantage of the opponent’s ball losses at the end of the half, the national team finished the first half ahead 40-31.
Hungary closed the 14-point gap in the third quarter and entered the last quarter with a score of 54-54.
Hungary started the final period well, taking the lead 66-60 with the baskets from behind the three-point line and forcing the national team to take a timeout.
Returning from the break with an 8-0 run, Türkiye took the lead 66-68 with four minutes left. The crescent-star team was ahead 79-72 in the last 1.5 minutes with Cedi Osman’s consecutive points.
Türkiye won the match 81-76 and qualified for the European Championship.
