Puerto Cortes, Cortes. In a joint operation, agents from the National Directorate of Border Police Services (DNSPF) and the National Anti-Drug Police Directorate (DNPA), in coordination with the Container Control Unit (UCC), seized an arsenal in port facilities. dependent on the Maritime Customs of Puerto Cortés.
During a physical inspection of a container coming from the port of Florida, United States, with its final destination in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, the following were located:
- A 12 gauge shotgun
- Eight short weapons of different calibers
- 477 projectiles of various calibers
Additionally, tactical accessories were seized, including:
- 21 pistol magazines
- 1 shotgun magazine
- Plastic gun covers and cases
The seizure was carried out in compliance with articles 48, 49 (subsection 2) and 54 (subsections 1 and 3) of the Law on the Control of Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives and Related Materials. Everything seized will be placed at the disposal of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime (FESCCO) in San Pedro Sula for the corresponding legal procedures.
It should be noted that this is the second seizure of weapons and ammunition carried out in less than 24 hours, both cases linked to the sending of parcel packages to the country.
