Baumann in the DFB goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina
Oliver Baumann gets his second international match. The Hoffenheim player should be in goal against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Afterwards, it is very likely that someone else will be allowed to do it again.
Goalkeeper Oliver Baumann is scheduled to play his second international match for Germany in the Nations League on Saturday. The 34-year-old from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim was given preference by national coach Julian Nagelsmann for the game in Freiburg against Bosnia-Herzegovina (8.45 p.m./RTL) over Alexander Nübel (28) from Stuttgart. This Friday, Baumann and Nagelsmann will take part in the final press conference of the DFB selection in the Freiburg stadium.
In all likelihood, Nübel will be used in the final group game against Hungary on Tuesday (8.45 p.m./ZDF) in Budapest. Nagelsmann had already decided on this division of labor – both get one game each – in October. Nübel celebrated his international debut in Zenica against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Baumann his in Munich against the Netherlands. Germany has already secured qualification for the quarter-finals of the Nations League and group victory can be secured in Freiburg.
FC Barcelona’s regular goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen (32) will be missing from the national team for months due to a serious knee injury. The third goalkeeper in the current squad is Stefan Ortega Morena (32) from Manchester City, who has never been nominated for the DFB team before.
