The San Antonio Spurs have been without their coach Gregg Popovich for several days. On Wednesday, the NBA club announced that the 75-year-old suffered a mild stroke on November 2nd.
It is unclear how long Popovich, who led the USA to gold at the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, will be out. He is in rehabilitation. He is expected to make a full recovery from his stroke, the club said.
Popovich has coached the Spurs since 1996, making him the NBA record holder for longest tenure with just one club. During this time he led the club to five NBA titles. For his achievements he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
