NBA: Schröder convinced – next defeat for Orlando

Basketball world champion Dennis Schröder helped his Brooklyn Nets to their fourth win of the season in the NBA with a strong performance. The national team captain had 20 points and six assists in the 106:104 win against the Memphis Grizzlies and thus played a major role in the success of the team from the Big Apple. After eight games, the Nets, where Schröder was the best pitcher together with Cameron Johnson, have a balanced record in the North American professional league.

They are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, and it is a thoroughly successful start for Schröder’s team, which was rated rather weak before the season. “That was a collective achievement,” said the German, “if we want to win games consistently, we have to do it as a unit. We don’t care what people say. We believe in this group and we all want to make the playoffs.”

Things went worse for the Orlando Magic for the brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner and Tristan da Silva. The clear 86:102 at the still unbeaten Oklahoma City Thunder meant the fourth defeat in a row, which Franz Wagner could not prevent despite scoring 22 points. His brother Moritz and da Silva each scored nine points. After three wins from the first four games, Orlando’s trend is clearly pointing downwards.

There was also nothing to gain for Daniel Theis with the New Orleans Pelicans; in the 100:118 defeat against the Portland Trail Blazers, the center remained inconspicuous with only four points. Maxi Kleber was still missing from the Dallas Mavericks’ 127:134 loss to the Indiana Pacers due to injury.

In addition to OKC, the Cleveland Cavaliers also remain undefeated, the 116:114 against the Milwaukee Bucks was their eighth win of the season. The Cavs set the franchise record; they had already started with such a record in 1976.
