NBA professional Maxi Kleber will not return to the German national team. He confirmed his decision in an interview.
Maximilian Kleber has finally closed the chapter on the national basketball team. The Dallas Mavericks winger, who skipped the 2023 World Cup after a dispute with captain Dennis Schröder, confirmed this to the Augsburger Allgemeine. Kleber continues to play a role in the NBA. “The topic of the national team is finally over for me,” said the 32-year-old: “Therefore there will be no return.”
Kleber, who played with icon Dirk Nowitzki at the Mavericks, was used a total of 30 times in the DBB jersey. He played his last tournament for Germany at the 2019 World Cup and has now taken on a role as a fan. “Since I know a lot of the guys very well or am friends with them, it’s a lot of fun to watch them and keep my fingers crossed,” said Kleber.
In the current season, Kleber has made ten appearances in the NBA. He averages 2.2 points per 15 minutes.
