Donovan Mitchell and reserve Ty Jerome scored 26 points each to lead Cleveland, the NBA’s best team, who beat Toronto 122-108, while Boston and Miami achieved narrow triumphs.
Jarrett Allen added 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who pulled within 17-1 on the season, while Gradey Dick and Scottie Barnes each scored 18 points to lead the Raptors.
Cleveland started the season 15-0 before losing 120-117 at Boston last Tuesday, but they bounced back to beat New Orleans the next night and stayed hot against Toronto, posting a 10-0 record at home.
“It’s a special place to play and we feel it on the pitch.” Donovan Mitchell said. “There’s always a lot of cheering when we play. It’s always nice to come back here and know that we’ll get a loud ovation every time.”
In Boston, Jaylen Brown scored 29 points and Jayson Tatum added 26 to lead the defending champion Celtics against the Minnesota Timberwolves 107-105.
“It was a great effort from both sides of the pitch.” Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said. “A great team win. I liked the way we constantly interacted with each other. Our defense, physicality and working to get the right shot, I think were the key to the victory.”
The Celtics improved to 14-3, second only to Cleveland among all NBA teams, and extended their winning streak to five games.
Brown hit a three-pointer to give the Celtics a 107-102 lead with 1:16 left. Julius Randle responded with a layup and free throw, but the T’wolves (8-8) couldn’t catch Boston (14-3) before the end of the game.
Anthony Edwards had 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Minnesota, which also had 23 points from Randle and 20 rebounds from Rudy Gobert.
In Miami, Jimmy Butler scored 33 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out six assists to lead the Miami Heat against Dallas 123-118 in overtime.
Butler’s dunk with 4.1 seconds left in regulation brought the Heat up 114-114, forcing the Texan team into overtime.
Bam Adebayo hit a three-pointer to give Miami the lead and Butler added a layup to make it 122-118 Heat with 98 seconds left in overtime and Alec Burks added a final free throw to seal the win.
Adebayo had 19 points and 11 rebounds and Tyler Herro added 18 points and 11 rebounds for Miami. Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 27 points.
Clippers and Indiana also win
In Philadelphia, former 76ers James Harden scored 23 points to lead the Los Angeles Clippers against the host Sixers, 125-99.
In Indianapolis, Pascal Siakam scored 22 points and Tyrese Haliburton added 21 to push the Indiana Pacers past NBA-worst Washington 115-103, breaking a three-game losing streak.
