Netflix raises football broadcast with Beyoncé to Super Bowl level – Fernsehenserien.de

In May, the announcement that streaming giant Netflix had reached an agreement with the American professional football league NFL to broadcast several games at Christmas caused a surprise. In the meantime, the streamer had announced that they wanted to add their own content to the broadcasts. Today the information came that none other than Beyoncé has been booked for a halftime show this year – giving Netflix entertainment for a “simple” game on a par with the Super Bowl (the “final game” of the football season).

Netflix had signed a three-year deal with the NFL for global broadcast rights to games played on Christmas Day. This will affect the games in 2024 Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (from 7 p.m. CET) and Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans (from 10:30 p.m.). According to industry observers, Netflix pays per game fees equivalent to the budget of a “mid-level film” (around $150 million).

For the half-time entertainment of the game Ravens vs. Texans Netflix has now hired Beyoncé, who grew up in Huston, Texas – according to Deadline The performance is part of a parallel agreed “larger collaboration” between the musician and Netflix (details are still pending). The artist had previously been seen on Netflix in the concert film “Homecoming – A Film by Beyoncé” (about her performance at Coachella; 2019).

Beyoncé is currently releasing her new album Cowboy Carter nominated for eleven Grammys (the awards ceremony will take place on February 2, 2025). Loud Deadline The Netflix appearance is likely to be the first opportunity for the artist to perform songs from the album live in a concert setting. It is expected that there will be one or two guests at the singer’s side who are also responsible for songs on the album (which features collaborations with Britney Spears, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus and Post Malone, among others ).

Beyoncé (real name Beyoncé Cater-Knowles) has already made two Super Bowl halftime show appearances: Super Bowl XLVII (2013; along with her previous ones Destiny’s Childcolleagues) and Super Bowl XV (accompanied by Bruno Mars in Santa Clara). At the next Super Bowl on February 9, 2025, rapper Kendrick Lamar will be the main act of the halftime show.

Under the current three-year pact, Netflix will also broadcast games in 2025 and 2026 (exactly which ones are still unknown, as the NFL will not finalize the corresponding schedules until later). It is to be expected that the streaming service will also use the broadcasts to promote its own program.
