Jerry Jonesthe owner of the Cowboys in Dallashe was exaggerating Netflix and the future of the NFL, but that was the funny thing the microphone he was using didn’t even work.
He was talking how the move to streaming will only affect Netflixbut we’re not so sure. Especially after the chaos of a recently organized live event. It was supposed to be a big deal, with the boxing matches and all, but it ended up being a disaster. Buffering, grainy images and sometimes nothing. It was a total fiasco for millions of people around the world.
Now, supposedly Netflix to stream some big NFL games on Christmas Dayand fans aren’t feeling too sure about it. Amazon Prime had some hiccups in the beginning, but now they’ve really nailed the whole streaming thing. It’s clear, reliable and it works. But Netflix? Not so much.
Time is running out for Netflix to get back on track before Christmas. They were supposed to have a rehearsal with a big boxing match in July, but it was delayed until November due to Mike Tyson’s injury. Now they have less than six weeks to figure it out, and things don’t look good.
Can Netflix compete with Amazon Prime for NFL glory?
There is already a contract for Netflix stream NFL games on Christmas in 2025 and 2026but if they screw up this year, the NFL may have a way out. They could take the games to Amazon or somewhere else. It’s like a “get out of jail free” card for the NFL.
Imagine if Netflix ruined Christmas games so badly that the NFL had to pull the plug. It would definitely be a nightmare before Christmas.
As one expert put it: “The first question is: will it work? The second question is, if not, will this disqualify or delay further deals with Netflix?” It’s a real possibility that Netflix could be in trouble if they drop the ball on this one.
So yeah, Netflix better get busy, otherwise they might find themselves on the naughty list this Christmas when they stream Capi in Kansas City against Pittsburgh Steelers E Houston Texans against Baltimore Crows. They have some time to clean up the Tyson-Paul gaffes.
