Neubrandenburger secures tickets for Badminton-DM

The North German Badminton Championships (U13-U19) took place in Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein. The best young players from seven federal states met to choose champions and secure starting places for the German Championships.

Lucas Jeschke (U13) and Matti Richter (U17) from SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg represented the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with another 10 players from Greifswald and Schwerin. While Matti Richter was all about gaining experience at such a big tournament, one could hope for more for Lucas Jeschke – and he delivered. At first he didn’t harmonize quite so convincingly with his Schwerin mixed partner Charlotte Dettmann and in the end he managed fifth place. However, the interaction with his doubles partner Maximilian Masur from TSV Nord Harrislee was surprisingly good.

The two boys, who otherwise face each other as competitors in singles, played together for the first time in doubles and couldn’t have done better. They fully deservedly made it to the final and won the title of North German champions in the U13 boys’ doubles against the top favorites Ben Oeser and Nico Chengxuan Wang from Horner TV. Lucas Jeschke also showed his skills in the individual and was able to reap the laurels from his previous six years of training with the runner-up title in the game against Ben Oeser.

The German Championships will take place in Gera from December 6th to 8th. SV Motor Süd Neubrandenburg is looking for possible sponsors who would contribute financially to travel, accommodation and ball costs. Lucas Jeschke is currently in the TOP 20 in the entire Federal Republic of Germany.

Matti Richter was also nominated by the Badminton Association for all three disciplines (singles, doubles and mixed). Due to bad luck, he met the top seeds early on, so that he ultimately achieved 9th place three times. With his performance he rounded off the good Neubrandenburg result.

The BVMV (Badminton Association of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) achieved third place in the state rankings, although with twelve participants one of the smallest starting fields represented MV.
