The new 3×3 basketball court was inaugurated at the Platys Center in Verona.
The event was attended by Filippo Ghezzer and Stefanio Magrini, respectively CEO and president of the Platys Center; Maurizio Gulotta, regional councilor of the Italian Basketball Federation in Veneto; Alpo Basket was represented by the player Giulia Mancini and the managers Enrico Pozzerle and Manlio Zambonini; and for Scaligera Basket there were the sporting director Alessandro Frosini, the players Liam Udom, Falilou Mbacke and the youth team coach Matteo Nobile.
An inauguration that thrilled those present, a new sporting proposal dedicated to basketball lovers but also to those who want to try their hand at this sport for the first time. Built in just a few weeks, the new 3×3 pitch is colourful, equipped with scoreboards and located in an indoor structure that allows it to be used even in bad weather: unique in the province of Verona.
«The idea of creating this 3×3 basketball court – explained Filippo Ghezzer – came to Stefano Magrini and me while watching the Paris Olympic games. This sport is truly spectacular, fun and suitable for experts and not. A new sporting proposal that Platys offers to its customers. And it won’t be the last. We will soon inaugurate a running circuit dedicated to women. And more is in the works. We are convinced that multidisciplinarity is the great resource on which Platys is based: many sports, all together, to create an increasingly broad and widespread sporting culture, in the various age groups.”
«I congratulate the Platys Center – declared Maurizio Gulotta of the Fip Veneto – for this initiative and for having invested in basketball. These types of initiatives are always to be praised because they create new outlets for those who play and for those who want to start playing basketball; a 3×3 covered field is a real gem. As a federation we can only support this innovation also with a view to future development, perhaps by facilitating events in which we can be involved”.
Three-on-three is a variant of basketball, which is played on one side of the court where two teams of three players (plus one substitution per team) face each other.
