The annual club championship is clearly one of the highlights in the calendar of our young judoka. Last Saturday it was that time again and more than 40 young athletes from the Herrenberg Judo Club came together in Bad-Teinach/Zavelstein to determine the new club champions.
After the weigh-in and a warm-up together, the fairly composed groups in which the fights took place were determined.
The boys and girls started their first duels highly motivated and thrilled their parents and siblings with some spectacular throws and exciting ground fights.
The youngest ones in particular took advantage of the opportunity to gain their first competition experience on their home mat and consistently implemented the techniques they learned in training.
The following fought for the title of club champion in their respective groups: Collin Holder, Theodor Kottwitz, Leo Reiss, Tom Behringer, Florian Ostertag, Erdem Pekdüz, Philipp Hiller, Valentin von Hochmeister, Samuel Hintner, Illia Protsenko, Daniel Hiller and Jamie Dieter.
In addition to certificates and medals, there was another award: to honor technically beautiful judo, the two best throws of the tournament were each awarded a trophy. On Mat 1, this special award went to Florian Ostertag for a perfectly timed Seoi-Nage. On Mat 2, Erdem Pekdüz’s Sumi-gaeshi was awarded.
Furthermore, three of our youngest judoka were delighted to be awarded the white-yellow belt. In training and not least at the club championships, Thore Grüninger, Simon Bergstreiser and Nael Nsouana-Moury have proven that they have mastered the basics of throwing, holding and falling.
