Since November 1st, the date of the inauguration, the city has been enriched with a new colorful and mosaic sign “Arona”, placed on the traffic island of Corso Repubblica, right in front of the Atlantic hotel and near the tourist office.
“Women in art”
This is a nice tribute from the “Donne in Arte” association to the municipal administration. An authentic task force of members aged between 6 and 94 and coming from various Italian and Swiss locations was employed in its creation. As Cinzia Venturini, who coordinated the working group that created the artefact, explains, the writing is made of polystyrene, covered with a new material which gave it the right strength and is covered with colored glass tiles coming from all over Italy. .
The drawing of the work created by the Nebbiunese artist Patrizia Pollato is also very beautiful. On the artefact, between the letters, the artists also placed the symbols of our city, namely the lake, wisteria, a sailing boat, flowers and the inevitable statue of San Carlo. Founded 4 years ago, the Women in Art association, chaired by Giuseppe Romano and based in via Novara, also includes a male member, namely Pietro Guidetti, former mayor of Gargallo. The association has always offered workshops to involve adults and children in the manual arts. And in this regard, in view of Christmas, creative workshops are planned for the creation of Christmas objects in ceramic, mosaic, candles in containers, Beton Art, Fluid Painting and much more.
