Turkish Basketball Federation announced that Alper Yılmaz was appointed as Sports Director.
In the statement made by the Federation, the following statements were made:
“Turkish Basketball Federation appointed experienced manager Alper Yılmaz to the post of Sports Director, which was created for the sports management of all leagues and national teams.
Yılmaz, who has an important place in Turkish basketball with his 15 years of management experience at Anadolu Efes Sports Club and his national athletic career, will serve as Sports Director within TBF.
Yılmaz, who started his basketball career at the age of 11 and played for clubs such as Türk Telekom, TOFAŞ, Anadolu Efes, won 6 Turkish League, 5 Turkish Cup and 3 Presidential Cup championships. He was part of the team that finished third in the EuroLeague Final Four in 2001.
Yılmaz, who joined Anadolu Efes as Sports Services Manager in 2009, served as General Director since 2015.
Yılmaz, who won 3 Turkish League championships, 3 Turkish Cups and 6 Presidential Cups in his management career, won the EuroLeague championship in a row in 2021 and 2022. Yılmaz, who was selected as the “Manager of the Year” by the EuroLeague in 2021 and 2022, also finished second in the 2019 Final Four.
Born in Ankara, Yılmaz graduated from Anadolu University, Department of Business Administration and completed the Sports Management and Marketing master’s program organized jointly by EuroLeague and Ca’ Foscari University.
Yılmaz, who wore the national jersey 118 times, successfully represented our country in the star, youth, hope and A National categories.
