Boone led the Yankees to a 603-429 record, three AFC East titles and a championship series victory.
The New York team reached the World Series in 2024, for the first time since 2009, but lost in five games to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Boone agreed to a three-year contract in October 2021, and that deal included an option for 2025, at the team’s discretion. General manager Brian Cashman said the deadline to exercise the option is 10 days after the World Series.
“Aaron is a stable presence in our locker room and has a deep ability to connect and maintain relationships with his players,” noted Cashman in a press release. Being able to consistently demonstrate these skills in such a demanding and pressured market makes him one of the best managers in the sport. »
Boone is the third Yankees manager to lead the team to the playoffs in six of his first seven years, joining Casey Stengel and Joe Torre.
The Yankees said Boone would discuss the news at a news conference Monday.
“I am grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this team. “It’s a responsibility – and an opportunity – that I will never take lightly,” Boone said in a statement.
