ran gives an overview.

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys 20:27

First home win for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024. Head coach Mike McCarthy’s team defeated their division rivals from New York thanks to a strong defensive performance.

Rookie linebacker DeMarvion Overshown scored the Cowboys’ first touchdown with a pick-six.

After the break, quarterback Cooper Rush (195 yards, one touchdown) and the offense capitalized on the turnovers of Giants playmaker Drew Lock (one fumble, one interception), who ran into the end zone twice.

Dallas’ defense constantly put pressure on the replacement of the dismissed Daniel Jones and recorded five sacks.

With their second win in a row, the Cowboys improved to 5-7 and still have at least a theoretical chance of making the playoffs. The Giants (2-10) are top contenders for the first pick in the 2025 draft.

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions 20:23

While the Lions offense hardly needed any start-up time and put scores of points on the scoreboard, the Bears offense remained pale for long periods of the first period of the game. The first first downs were only achieved shortly before halftime.

Detroit went into the break with a 16-0 lead. In the second half the game developed into a lively exchange of blows and the Bears presented themselves from a much better side.

The offense led by rookie Caleb Williams put up 20 points, but could no longer catch up with the Lions’ lead. Also because the Bears’ offense blacked out shortly before the end.

A holding penalty and a sack knocked the offense out of field goal range. Despite a timeout, the Bears continued to run the clock. The final play, a third down, ended in an incompletion with 0:00 on the clock.

Catastrophic errors in game management that ultimately cost the Bears a chance to win or at least overtime.

German Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had five catches for 73 yards. Tight end Sam LaPorta scored two touchdowns.

The Lions improve their record to 11-1 with the win, the Bears are now 4-8.
