The Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) have parted ways with head coach Matt Eberflus after a disappointing season. ESPN reported this on Friday. The Bears suffered a bitter 20:23 defeat at the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving for the German-American wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Eberflus came under criticism after he did not take a timeout before the Bears’ last offensive play on Thursday despite time running out. Chicago was three points behind and lost the game – it was the eighth defeat in the twelfth game. The playoffs are already out of reach for the Bears.
Eberflus had been in office since 2021. According to ESPN, offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will initially take over as interim head coach.
