ATLANTA – Running back Ezekiel Elliott will not suit up for the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons due to disciplinary action, it has been learned ESPN.

Elliott was originally expected to be able to play in the game, but he did not accompany the team to Atlanta on Saturday.

Elliott’s agent, Rocky Arcneaux, has not confirmed the Cowboys’ decision.

The veteran running back’s return to Dallas in 2024, after a short stint with the New England Patriots, has not gone as he intended so far, after signing a one-year deal in last April.

Elliott has a meager 149 yards rushing on 48 carries, as well as two touchdowns.

In last week’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers, Elliott nevertheless scored his 70th touchdown in a Cowboys uniform, two behind Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett.

This will be the first time that Elliott has been left out when he is healthy, at least in a situation where his club’s playoff picture has not already been settled.

Dallas will therefore rely on Rico Dowdle, the team’s leader in rushing yards, and another veteran, Dalvin Cook, to face the Falcons on Sunday.
