Leo Chenal plays the hero

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal blocked Will Lutz’s field goal on the final play of the game, allowing his team to defeat the Denver Broncos 16-14. Thanks to Chenal’s heroic play, the Chiefs remained undefeated this season (9-0). Andy Reid’s men also signed their 15e victory in a row, if we include the elimination duels. A championship team always finds a way to win, and that’s what the winners of the last Super Bowl did, despite only one touchdown. Patrick Mahomes targeted Travis Kelce, who scored 76e major part of his career. The latter tied the NFL record for most passing touchdowns for a tight end, a record which was held by Tony Gonzalez. It was a heartbreaking loss for Sean Payton’s team, which saw Bo Nix throw two paid passes. The defense also applied a lot of pressure on Mahomes with four sacks. Better luck next time.
A return and a reward
Christian McCaffrey played his first game of the season after recovering from Achilles tendinitis. He had 107 yards – 39 rushing and 68 passing – in a winning cause. His return coincides with the first series of victories for the San Francisco 49ers (5-4). Kyle Shanahan’s troops inflicted a fourth straight loss on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6), by a score of 23-20, a victory obtained on the last play of the game thanks to Jake Moody’s 44-yard kick . The Niners dominated the aerial duel with 353 yards and two touchdown passes from Brock Purdy. George Kittle was one of Purdy’s two paid targets. The other was the miracle Ricky Pearsall, who scored his first career touchdown. It should be remembered that the rookie missed the first six games of the season after being shot in the chest during an armed robbery. His first touchdown in his third game in the NFL is therefore fully deserved, especially since he offered his best performance through the air with 73 yards.
The Steelers at the top
Veteran Russell Wilson won his duel against young Jaylen Daniels; The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2) won 28-27 against the Washington Commanders (7-3). George Pickens set the tone with a spectacular catch in the end zone in the first quarter, and he finished his day with 91 yards through the air. But the play that made the difference was new acquisition Mike Williams’ 32-yard touchdown on a flawless pass from Wilson, with less than three minutes left in the game. It was the quarterback’s third successful pass. He has six in three outings, against just one interception. On the Washington side, it was the ground game that contributed to the offense with three visits to the end zone. Austin Ekeler, on two occasions, and Jeremy McNichols were the chosen ones. Like Wilson, Daniels completed half of his pass attempts. He had 202 yards, seven more than his counterpart, but did not find profitable targets. The Steelers pocketed a fourth straight victory and took first place in the North division of the American Conference, ahead of the Baltimore Ravens.
Quote of the day
The quarterback was the best player on the planet today.
Jonathan Gannon
The head coach of the Arizona Cardinals (6-4) had every reason to throw flowers to Kyler Murray after a crushing 31-6 victory against the New York Jets (3-7). Murray completed 22 of 24 pass attempts for 266 yards and a touchdown. He tied a team record by finishing the game with 17 completed passes in a row. Additionally, Murray carried the ball into the end zone twice. If the Arizona quarterback flew over the field, it was quite the opposite for Aaron Rodgers and his attack, who were pinned to the ground. It’s a challenge being a Jets fan, who only scored a measly six points on Spencer Shrader field goals. Obviously, the dismissal of Robert Saleh and the acquisition of Davante Adams will not save the situation of New Yorkers this season. Their 3-7 record could fuel expectations of an excellent position for the next draft. In the darkness there will emerge a glimmer of hope…
